JV Race Distance: 1 Loop1 then 1 Loop2, 2,840m (2.84km, 1.76 miles)

Varsity Race Distance 2 Loop1's then 1 Loop2, 4,116m (4.12km, 2.56 miles)

Course Overview:

Walpole's course begins in a lower field where runners race across and up a hill leading to the main field. The race then takes a left and enters the woods. The runners follow a trail through the woods for a majority of the race. The trail is very consistent in terrain, mostly dirt with a bit of gravel that makes it a bit harder. Both races begin with a loop, where after the JV continues straight onto another loop and Varsity takes a right to do the loop again. The second loop turns into concrete when rounding the upper field and there is a road that the runners follow up a hill. The runners then run on a trail along the side of the track, enter the track, and do a reverse lap where they finish at the 50 yard line in front of the main bleachers.

Hill1

Hill

After the beginning stretch on the field, runners must race up a hill that leads to the main field and into the woods. It's fairly wide and short, concrete, and not too steep.

Narrow

Narrowness

The second loop/part of the course begins to narrow down a bit and becomes a bit more up-and-down than the first loop. There are a few more roots to look out for as well.

Hill2

Hill

Near the end of the race, there is a fairly significant concrete hill. It's not the longest, but it's steep and works the legs towards the end of a race.
